Summer of Love – Jaqueline Snowe

I am so happy to welcome Jaqueline Snowe onto the blog today.

Hi Jaqueline, so which type of holiday do you prefer, beach or countryside?

I am a beach person for sure. I much prefer to not create an itinerary on a trip and just chill on the beach, read, swim, and wonder around restaurants and bars. I’ve done the tourist thing a lot when I lived in Europe for a year and it was fun but being with large crowds is so not my cup of tea anymore.

Let’s go back in time, have you ever had a summer romance?

I did have a summer romance…12 years ago and we’re still together. My entire life, I wanted to go to Spain to live and I met my (now) husband at eighteen. It was supposed to be a summer fling, just for fun *we all know how that works out* and I told him, listen, I don’t want this to end but I’m not cancelling my dream. This wonderful man decided that he would live abroad too then. It was absolutely awesome.

Oh, how romantic is that? So sweet.

Assuming you can get to a nice secluded beach this summer, what will you be reading?

My current TBR list are The Boyfriend Project, Boyfriend Material, Queen Maker, Take a Hint, Dani Brown, and literally anything Nicki Sloane writes.

I’m posting several cocktail recipes; do you have a favorite cocktail to sip by the pool?

Yes! We don’t have a name for it but pineapple juice, orange juice, Malibu rum served with ice and fresh strawberries is the BEST drink to have when it’s stupid hot outside! I tend to use an 8 oz glass, add a shot or two of rum and ball park the rest of half pineapple, have orange juice, but some people like it more sweet (more pineapple) or more tangy (more OJ).

That sounds delicious!

Finally, what advice would you give to our readers so that they have a great summer?

Wear sunscreen! Drink water! I live in Phoenix where it’s been 116, 117 and it is hot—like that feeling you get when you open the stove after making a pizza for 20 minutes, that rush of hot air? That’s what it’s like when you walk outside. Water and sunscreen are essential to survive!

Ah, so we need to fit in the odd glass of water between cocktails, huh? Got it!

Thanks for joining in, Jaqueline, I’m off to fill up my (re-usable) water bottle, and in the meantime you guys can find out about Jaqueline’s new book, coming on 1st September.

Grace Turner scores the opportunity of a lifetime interning with an Ex-NFL player. But working under Brock Anderson turns out to be the job from hell. The hometown hero turned athletic trainer has a reputation as the best in his field, but his volatile personality makes working with him miserable.

Despite the animosity between them, he’s highly respected in his field and interning under him could mean everything for her career. The long days, longer nights, injuries, and busses filled with smelly athletes are the easy part. The biggest battle is the unwarranted attraction to Brock that she can’t seem to shake.

But as Grace spends more and more time with her brooding boss, she uncovers that his abrasive nature is deep rooted in his grief—something she’s no stranger to.

The glimpses of the man beneath the harsh exterior Brock presents to the world leave Grace conflicted in her feelings for him. As the internship draws to a close, Grace is faced with a choice that could set her future on an entirely new course
