Spotlight on – Rosanna Leo

To celebrate the release of A RELUCTANT ATTRACTION, book 3 in the Handyman series (because they’re good with their hands, wink, wink), here are a few things you might or might not know about Rosanna Leo…

  1. Rosanna comes from Canada…land of maple syrup, Ryan Reynolds, Justin Bieber, Shawn Mendes…sorry I got distracted there for a moment. Land of poutine, falling water and politeness.

2. Rosanna writes contemporary romance but she has also written paranormal.

3. Rosanna is a librarian, because she loves books so much she has to be surrounded by them at all times!

4. The Handymen series is about three brothers who have their own home improvement TV show. I can confirm that Rosanna did not stalk any actual brothers with property shows as research*.

5. And finally, she loves her cat! All cats!! In fact she even put one in her new book!!!

(not an actual photo of Rosanna’s cat, although I suspect that this is what Sweetie looks like on a daily basis…)

Now you know all about Rosanna, you probably want to know all about her book, huh? (ooh look, a cat!!)

He was looking for an escape. In her, he found his home.

Contractor and Handymen host Nick Zorn needs a change. He’s been feeling listless, and when his ex-girlfriend embarrasses him in a viral post by sharing private details of their sex life, he’s downright ready to escape. When an opportunity to reinvent his career arises, Nick takes it, even though it might mean the end of Handymen. However, the team has one more project to tackle together first—a struggling cat sanctuary in dire need of renovation.

When Nick arrives at the shelter and meets its owner, a lovely widow named Claire, his life is once more thrown into disarray. Neither of them is looking for a relationship, but the attraction is fierce. As he helps Claire fix her workplace, he realizes he wants to help her in other ways too. Their flirtation sizzles, flaring into a friends-with-benefits arrangement.

But the more time they spend together, the more reluctant these ‘friends’ become to fight their deepening connection, even though they know their inevitable break will devastate them…

Damn, he’d never been so at a loss for words around a woman.

She was just so lovely. No, not just lovely. She looked fucking hot, to be perfectly honest. She’d worn her hair down, and the chocolate waves danced around her shoulders. Her jeans were like a second skin, emphasizing every curve. She wasn’t wearing one of her usual slogan T-shirts. Instead, she’d put on a silky black blouse, one that hugged her breasts. Although she’d been wearing ballet slippers earlier, she’d slipped them off when everyone went home. She now went barefoot in the house, but her toenails were painted a vibrant pink.

They were the sexiest feet he’d ever seen.

Claire didn’t wear a lot of jewelry, from what he’d seen so far, and tonight was no difference. Her only ornamentation was a silver bracelet that dangled around her slim wrist, and some sparkly earrings.

And her wedding rings, of course.

“I hope you enjoyed the party,” she said, her voice soft and sexy. He could just imagine what it would be like to have a voice like that whispering in his ear first thing in the morning, as they snuggled in bed.

Naked, of course.

Anytime he pictured himself snuggling with Claire, and he’d begun to imagine it a lot, they were always naked.

“I did, thanks.” His throat was parched, and no matter how often he cleared it, it didn’t help. “Do you mind if I get myself some water?”

“Here, let me.” She filled a glass.

As Claire turned to hand it to him, she must not have realized he had already stepped closer. Their arms connected at an odd angle and the water splashed out of the glass, all over the front of his shirt.

It clung to his gut, as if he was a contender in a wet T-shirt contest.

“Ohmigosh. I’m so sorry.”

Nick plucked at his shirt. “It’s okay, really. I was kind of hot anyway.”

Claire looked at the wet patch and let out a strange laugh.

She was totally checking him out.

Grateful for that ab routine his trainer had given him, Nick reached for a couple of paper towels and dried himself off as best as possible.

“I could get you another shirt, if you’re uncomfortable.”

“I’m fine, thanks. It’s just water. It’ll dry.”

“Of course. I’m sure you’d rather not dress up in my dead husband’s clothes.” She pulled a face. “I’m sorry. That was meant to be internal monologue. Ugh. I’m not very good at this.”

“Oh, yeah?” Nick chuckled. “What’s this, exactly?”

“You know.”

“I’m not sure I know. I might need you to spell it out.” He drew closer, so close her perfume teased him with its sweetness.

She swallowed. “Chatting up wet men.”

Another step closer. “I only see one man here.”

“You, then,” Claire said on a breath. “I’ve been trying to chat you up all night, and failing miserably.”

“Ah. I should probably let you know you haven’t been failing at all. You have all my attention.”

Her sparkly lips formed an ‘O,’ although no sound emerged.

“If all it took was a glass of water, Claire, I would have drenched myself some time ago.”

Excerpt – The Billionaire and The Princess

His ecstatic cries grow louder, releasing his resentment. He relaxes into me, his knees giving way. He pushes harder into me, wanting more, faster. “Hey.” I pull back. “I’m in charge here.”

“Sorry.” He looks down at me and bites his lip as I lower my mouth back onto him, just the tip, my hands doing all the hard work. Leaning on the wall to steady himself, his head thrown back, he shakes and convulses as I bring him to fruition. I pull away and empty him over my breasts.

A blow job for my billionaire boss. So much for fighting the patriarchy.

But Hank isn’t the problem. He’s trapped in a world he simply doesn’t belong to. A world entirely controlled by his father.

I’m not mad at him, I’m not even mad at his family, except Guillermo fucking Baresi. I just can’t see a way forward for us without somebody getting hurt. The more Hank and I fight to make it work, the more we fall for each other and the harder it will be when the truth comes out.

Dropping to his knees, Hank swirls a delicate finger under my chin and lifts my face to his. “How about we take the afternoon off? You’ve been working so hard and I need to make sure you are thoroughly thanked for everything you do around here.”

“You’re going to thank me personally?”

“I am going to thank you long and hard. I am going to thank you and then I’m going to thank you again and just when you think you can’t take any more, I’m going to thank the hell out of you one last time.”

Holiday Recipe by Hannah Murray

Nothing better to accompany all of our cocktails than a batch of delicious home made cookies…

Hannah’s Three Day Holiday Cookies

4 1/3 cups of flour
2/3 cups of corn starch
1 1/2 t salt
2 t baking powder
1 t baking soda
1/2 t nutmeg
2/3 cups butter, softened
2 eggs
2 1/3 cups sugar
8 oz sour cream
2 t vanilla

MIXING – Sift dry ingredients (except sugar) together, then set aside. Beat butter & sugar till fluffy, then add eggs one at a time. Add sour cream and vanilla, stir until completely mixed. Add dry ingredients in stages, stirring well after each addition (the dough will be stiff and a little hard to turn by the time you’re through). Cover bowl and refrigerate for 8 hours, or overnight

ROLLING, CUTTING & BAKING – Remove dough from fridge and divide into quarters (just easier to handle that way). Roll dough out on floured surface so that it’s about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick (the thicker the dough, the fluffier the cookies – I like ’em fluffy). Dip cookie cutters in flour, then cut and place on greased cookie sheet (parchment paper works, as does cooking spray – just make sure to wipe sheet clean and re spray after each batch to avoid getting that burnt tasteBe sure to dip cutters in flour before each use to avoid sticking.

Bake at 350 for 10-13 minutes, until just golden on the bottom. Transfer to wire rack to cool

DECORATE – at will!

  • I call them 3 Day Cookies because I usually take a day for each step – mixing, baking, decorating
  • Choose cookie cutters that don’t have a lot of detail, as the cookies will puff up a lot and obliterate any fine details – or roll the dough very thin
  • I haven’t frozen these at the dough stage, but when they’re baked, they freeze beautifully
  • A stand mixer is the most painless way to do these, but they’re not hard to do by hand

Nicholas Saint’s assistant just quit. Rebecca has been with him for three years, keeping his office organized and his libido raging. She’d been both the best assistant he’d ever had and the star of all his late-night fantasies, but he knew better than to dip his quill in the company ink. Whenever the urge to bend her over the desk and see if he could make her ass glow like Rudolph’s nose became unbearable, he’d taken his urges to the BDSM club and worked those kinks out. Now she’s gone, leaving him pissed off, turned on, and more than a little regretful that he’d never got to hear “yes, Daddy” spill from her red lips. Good thing the club’s Christmas party is tonight; he needs a sweet submissive and a hard scene to get Rebecca out of his head.

Rebecca McBride spent the last three years in a state of unrequited lust for her handsome, grumpy boss. She scheduled his meetings, answered his phone, and fetched his coffee, all the while imagining what he would feel like on top of her, pinning her down, his voice a dark whisper in her ear, urging her to be a good girl for Daddy. Talk about an uncomfortable working environment. It’s time to put her unattainable fantasies aside and find a new job, and a new man. Someone who can give her the love she needs—and the kink she craves.

That club she’s been meaning to try is having a Christmas party…

When an embittered artist crosses paths with a young widow, the heat is on…

When personal chef and single mom Katie Walsh jumps back into the dating game, Leo Treversini’s gaze in the doorway of a local bar lights up her whole body. Bumping into him a week later, Kate thinks fate is calling—until Leo’s bitter words hit her like a punch to the gut.

Recently returned to the up-and-coming Corvallis neighborhood, metal artist and loner Leo feels the beautiful power of Katie’s eyes like the flame from his torch, but discovering his muse is married and the young mother of three daughters cuts him to the quick.

Except…Katie is widowed, which means she’s free to love again—if she can trust a man with her heart and her most precious gifts, her daughters. As Leo is free to love her, if he can overcome a past betrayal and believe in Katie’s love. Add in the meddling community, Katie’s family and teenage internet crime and it’s going to be far from easy…or even likely.

Katie’s love might be just the balm Leo’s wounded heart needs, but will he have the courage to face his crushing past to accept it?

Can the artist with the wounded heart love his muse?

Christmas Recipe with Renée Dahlia

Renée’s recipe is not only a delicious treat, it can also make the perfect gift.

Rocky Road

2x375g white ‘Melts’ chocolate

100g marshmallows

80g pistachio

100g macadamias*

200g dried apricots

50g coconut*

Total Cost: $28.97

*I’ve included the full cost of the packet for these in the price, but you won’t use the whole packet in the recipe, only the amount noted.

Depending on how much you give to each person, this recipe can be split out for between 4 and 8 people – for less than $30.  And it only takes ten minutes, plus the wrapping.

First you need to prepare a cake pan, or any square shaped object, by placing a sheet of baking paper in it.  Then you need a pot of water and a non-plastic bowl that fits onto the pot.  Boil the water with the bowl sitting over the pot.  Once the water is boiling, the bowl will heat up.  Put the two packets of chocolate in the bowl and stir occasionally until it is all melted.

Tip all the other ingredients into another bowl and mix it around.

Once the chocolate is melted, dump all the other ingredients into the chocolate and stir quickly until mixed through.  Using an oven glove, remove the bowl from the boiling pot and pour the chocolate mixture into your paper lined cake pan.  Spread it out so it is even.  If you want, you can sprinkle the top with some desiccated coconut.  Place the cake pan with chocolate mixture into the fridge and let it set.  Once it is set, cut it into blocks and wrap.

Renée has three Christmas books, perfect for snuggling down with a plate of rocky road and being whisked away to Romancelandia…

Cocktail Recipe with Katherine E Hunt

I thought it might be fun to share a recipe for Eggnog. This is one of my favorite winter drinks, enjoyed in front of the fire.

The question of which alcohol to use really depends on taste. The rum should be spiced and dark. The whisky/bourbon should be on the sweet side. Some brands do spiced bourbon/whiskies, which would work well. If you are planning to serve this at a party, brandy is the best option, as it is the mildest in taste.

Photo by Emily Andreeva on Unsplash
  • 50g caster sugar (+75ml water)
  • 4 egg yolks (must be fresh)
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • Small can of condensed milk (around 300g)
  • 100ml of either Brandy, rum or whisky

Put the sugar and water in a saucepan. Cook on a low heat until the sugar is melted then allow to cool.

Beat the yolks, until they form a smooth paste then add the vanilla, condensed milk, alcohol and cooled sugar water. If the sugar water is too hot it will cook the eggs and ruin the drink. Patience is key!

Put it in the fridge to chill and serve in front of a roaring fire, whilst dipping into a good book.
